THE PORT OF WOMEN

WOMEN IN THE PORT AND THE MARITIME SECTOR: WHY NOT?

The Port of Women is a project developed and promoted by the Municipality of Livorno in collaboration with RETE – International Association for the Collaboration between Ports and Cities, the University of Pisa and the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR IRISS).

“The main aims of the project can be summarized as follows: on the one hand, to promote the knowledge of the work carried out by women in the port and maritime sector to a wide public, and, on the other one, to facilitate a constructive debate among the sector’s stakeholders to increase and enhance the presence of women in ports and in the maritime sector. The intention is to represent port and maritime work as an opportunity for women and future generations.”

Barbara Bonciani, Councilor for port and port-city integration in the Municipality of Livorno.
