Port of Liverpool ranked as one of the best European ports and as UK’s top port for logistics potential

According to a recent study by property adviser Knight Frank, the Port of Liverpool has been named as the best port in the United Kingdom for logistics potential. The study ranked 41 UK ports based on 13 criteria, including forecast export growth, access to consumer markets, skilled labor availability, land availability, port capacity, import growth potential, and the size of the existing logistics market.

The Port of Liverpool received the highest overall score in the rankings, coming in first for forecast export growth and among the top 10% for all other criteria. This report highlights the significance of the Port of Liverpool as an important hub for logistics and supply chain management, due to its strategic location and access to a catchment area of over 35 million people.

Peel Ports, the operator of the port, has made significant investments in recent years, including the completion of Liverpool2, a £400 million deep-water container terminal. The report also recognized the importance of the port’s grain terminal to the UK’s agricultural bulk industry. This recognition highlights the Port of Liverpool’s potential to shorten supply chains and mitigate supply disruptions, making it an attractive destination for logistics investment and development.
