Automotive shipping turns to biofuels
DB Schenker and Volvo Cars are teaming up on more sustainable ocean freight, shipping 12,000 standard containers with automotive spare parts on vessels using biofuel. The companies estimate CO2 emissions per container will be reduced by 84%, saving around 9,000 tonnes of CO2 per year compared to vessels powered by fossil fuel.
